International Conference untitled ‘Improving the quality of road infrastructure’, chaired by Mr Zdzisław Szwed, the Member of the Management Board of Lubelskie Voivodeship was held in Lublin on June 12^th, 2019

This conference dedicated to the road building and maintenance was organised within the realisation of the project untitled ‘Extension of the voivodeship road No 812 on the section Korolowka – Wlodawa’ implemented within the Cross-Border Cooperation Program Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2014-2020.

Such distinguished personalities upon the world of education in Lubelskie, as e.g. associate professor of the Lublin University of Technology, Head of the Department of Roads and Bridges, Mr. Janusz Bohatkiewicz, and his associates had presented the results of their researches linked to the increase of the roads and bridges safety and life-span, as well as contemporary methods used for decrease of the noise level and the protection of groundwater in road surroundings. Following young scientists of Lubelskie, as e.g. Ph.D. eng. J. Kukiełka, MSc eng. M. Jukowski and MSc eng. M. Hałucha had their talks during the conference. The presentations of professor Bohatkiewicz on BIM in modern road design was met by attendees with a special attention.

Associates of Prof. Ph.D. eng. Mr Wojciech Franus, Deputy Dean of Architecture and Design Faculty, the Head of Geotechnology Department, Ph.D. eng. A. Woszuk and MSc eng. P.Miduch presented the results of their researches, including the results of the project implemented together with scientist of the Lviv Polytechnical University, realised within the Crioss Border Cooperation Programme Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2007-2013.

Candidate of Technical Science, associated professor Mr A. Bondarsky, Dean of the Faculty of Construction and Design of the Lutsk National Technical University presented the researches performed by the Ukrainian scientists.

The organisers hope the participation in the conference raised the level of participants knowledge (representatives of institutions responsible for management of regional and local roads from Ukraine and Poland) on roads design, management and construction.
